When The Forest Blooms

When The Forest Blooms

Gesha Village Estate was founded in 2012; today, we stand at the threshold of our 10th auction, a decade of tending a forest that has, in turn, taken care of us. Guided by a cultivation model that safeguards the surrounding ecology, we now invite our community, on this celebratory occasion, into a shared reflection on natural beauty and new beginnings. A blossom is the instant when hidden potential becomes visible; it marks a beginning rather than an end. When we speak of the farm as a “blooming forest,” we gently honor all that Gesha Village Estate has weathered and the renewed life it now reveals. This also leads directly into the cup: each coffee is a blossom of the forest, an expression of this new phase in the farm’s life and of the people who shape it. This year’s Pride of Gesha is a special milestone—our 10th auction—and we celebrate the state of bloom we find ourselves in now. Over these ten auctions, each season has unfolded like a fresh blossom, another way the landscape, the people, and the trees choose to speak through the cup. We have already marked our first decade as a farm; this year is about how far the coffee itself has blossomed since that beginning.

The focus of this auction is one of quiet renaissance. After years threaded with highlights, hardship, and healing, the farm is entering a renewed flowering—more assured, more intricate, more radiant. The 10th auction becomes a threshold rather than a conclusion, not a final chapter on what came before but an opening into a more expressive era of Pride of Gesha, where resilience is sensed rather than declared. At the heart of this new bloom is a singular class of coffees, showcased in their own category: the dark-room-dried lots. Nurtured slowly in the stillness and carefully controlled air of the dark room, these coffees have unlocked spectacular flavor profiles that distinguish themselves even within the already expansive spectrum of Gesha Village Estate. They are like nocturnal blossoms, maturing away from the sun, gathering depth and complexity, then revealing breathtaking character the moment they open in the cup.

By featuring these dark-room-dried coffees as a dedicated segment of the auction, we celebrate both innovation and patience. These lots carry an unusually expressive flavor profile, revealing what becomes possible when we push our processing philosophy further, trust time, and refine every detail. In many ways, they stand as the purest expression of this year’s spirit: a renaissance in flavor, born from resilience and articulated through bloom. And so, although this is the 10th time we assemble around Pride of Gesha as an auction, the story we are inviting our community into is not merely about longevity—it is, above all, about new beginnings.
